A Very well done to the NEW Open Champion Zach Johnson.
American Zach Johnson claims his 2nd major title in a three man play-off on a thrilling final day on the 144th Open Championship.
The 2007 Masters Champion finished one shot clear of Louis Oostuizen and three ahead from Marc Leishman over the four extra holes to take the £1.15m prize fund and the Claret Jug.
Johnson only had 15 putts over the first 12 holes on the fianl day which showed his skill on the Links greens.
World number 2 Jordan Spieth came tied 4th along side Aussie Jason Day, Spieth made a bogey at the tough 17th to leave him one shot adrift, having to birdie the last to found the valley of sin with his second shot which gave him a lengthy up and down puut for birdie which came within inches of holeing.
Overall the standard of golf that was played over the four days was simply brillant!

Chambers Bay had some mixed reviews over the past week with it greens and the course set up but it will go down as a classic with a roller coaster ride all the way to the end.
Jordan Spieth claimed his 2nd major and is on course to become the first golfer in modern history to compete the grand slam in a calendar year.
I’m sure we will see many great majors in the future as Rory will not like being beaten and just maybe a great rivalry will emerge like Nicklaus and palmer had for so many years which will get more people into the game of Golf.
If you have been inspired by the weekend events please pop into American Golf Canterbury and we can make sure you have the right equipment to make you a major winner.

How nice does Chambers Bay look?
Here’s what World Number 1 Rory Mcilroy thinks about the 115th US open course..
‘It’s a pure links golf course. Every part of this golf course is fescue. You get fescue in the United States on the surrounding areas of the golf course, but here fairways, greens, aprons, everything is fescue. It’s really like playing an Open Championship in the United States.’
‘I really like the golf course. I think it sets up well for my game. You’ve got to be aggressive off the tee. You’ve got to hit driver. I think it’s a course where you’re going to see a lot of guys hit fairways and hit greens. But when you hit greens, you can still be 50, 60 feet away from the pin. So if you can drive the ball well and your pace putting and long putting is sharp, I think they’re going to be two really key things this week to be successful.’
‘It’s a very long golf course. Some of these greens, where I’m hitting maybe a 6- or a 7-iron in, a lot of the field are going to be going in with 5- and 4-irons. It’s tough enough going in there with the clubs I’m going in with. Guys that hit the ball a long way – I think if you can carry the ball like 295, 300 in the air this week, you’re going to have a big advantage.’

NEW Callaway big Bertha Mini 1.5 Driver
Now what can i say about Callaway’s New Mini Drive…. All i can say is YOU NEED TO HIT THIS!
Yes distance is down by 10-20 yards over the traditional driver (Not as much as i thought it would be) but i found my dispersion halved. To my game i will take little less yards, if you put me in the right place every time!
Come in to AG Canterbury and see how this little guy can do to help improve your game! For now here’s all the feature and spec details and we will see you in store soon,
Features + Details
More MOI Than Our Typical 3-Wood
Off the tee, it’s a better option for players than our typical 3-wood. It has higher MOI from a 235cc head that’s 35% larger than XR, and a shape that gives you confidence over the ball.
It has high ball speed from a Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup, a Forged Composite crown, and the cambered Warbird Sole makes it easy to hit. You’re getting all the best features of a driver in the framework of a larger fairway wood.
Long Off The Fairway For Better Players
If you have a high swing speed, you can play this off the fairway for high speed and amazing distance. You know that long Par-5 you’ve been trying to reach in two? You might be able to get home now.
Adjustability To Fit Your Shot Selection
Depending on how you want to play it, the Bertha Mini 1.5 can be a replacement driver, a longer option off the tee than a 3-wood, or a club that’s playable off the fairway. That’s why we’ve put in an OptiFit Hosel to tune it to your settings. Choose from 8 different combinations for your loft (-1, S, +1, +2) and lie angle (Draw or Neutral) configurations.
